Reading Is Art-RAGEOUS - the 2010 Family Summer Reading Program Was a Great Success!

May 21, 2010

For over 30 years, the Chicago Public Library has boosted the literacy and reading skills of Chicago's children with a fun and educational reading program over the summer.  In 2009, over 50,000 children read over one million books during the Family Summer Reading Program about Abe Lincoln!

The program was available at all 76 Chicago Public Library locations and selected Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Schools sites from June 14 through August 7, 2010. Participating children read and reported on books of their choosing and had fun with art programs and projects. Children received art stickers for their booklog for each book read, won book prizes and earned Reading Is Art-RAGEOUS t-shirts by reading lots of books!
